Fraud Arrest
A 41-year-old Newcastle, ON man is facing charges after an incident Thursday evening.
At approximately 7:30pm on May 21, 2026, officers were called to a pharmacy about a man attempting to pick up a fraudulent prescription. Upon arrival, officers learned that the prescription had been used several times since August 2025. They located the man inside the store and took him into custody. During a search after arrest officers seized:
- 2.6grams of Methamphetamine
- Two knives
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Newcastle, ON man was arrested and charged with:
- Use, deals, acts on forged document
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court August 11, 2026.
Impaired Arrest
A 33-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Monday evening.
At approximately 11:20pm on May 19, 2026, officers responded to the area of Lansdowne Street West and Clonsilla Avenue after a crash notification was received and the driver could not be contacted. Upon arrival officers located the vehicle. While speaking to the driver, officers noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit (Highway Traffic Act)
- Fail to have insurance card (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court June 30, 2026.
