Robbery Arrest
A 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing a robbery charge after an incident Thursday evening.
At approximately 10:00pm on May 7, 2026, an officer was flagged down by a passerby to report an incident. The officer learned that the man had been walking in near the train tracks between Aylmer Street and George Street North when he was approached by another man who brandished a knife at him and demanded his belongings. The victim handed over several items and then took off. Officers were able to locate a suspect matching the description given to police and he was taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Armed robbery
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 8, 2026.
Impaired Arrest
A 55-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Thursday evening.
At approximately 8:25pm on May 7, 2026, officers were made aware of a man in a vehicle slumped over the wheel in the area of Townsend Street and George Street. Upon arrival, the officer noticed the vehicle was running. Officers were able to wake the driver and noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court, June 16, 2026.
