Break and Enter Suspects Sought

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Street Crime Unit are investigating after a residential break and enter Thursday evening.

It’s believed the incident happened around 6:00pm in the Goodwin Terrace and Emery Way area.  No one was home at the time, but the suspect fled with over $60,000 in Canadian currency and some jewelry. 

Through investigation a description of the suspect was developed.  They are described as wearing a mask, gloves, jeans, a brimmed hat, backpack and a light coloured “puffy” jacket. They were last seen walking northbound on Goodwin Terrace.

Fraud Arrest

A 24-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges in connection with fraudulent use of bank cards.

In August 2024, officers were made aware of two residents at a Peterborough retirement home who reported their bank cards missing and unauthorized purchases made around the end of June. 

Through investigation, a suspect was identified as a former employee of the retirement home and on Thursday, November 21, 2024, officers attended the suspect's residence and took them into custody.

As a result, a 24-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Use of Credit Card x2
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 x2

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, November 22, 2024.

 

Theft Arrest

Two people are facing charges after an incident Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 3:00pm on November 21, 2024, officers with the Community FIRST Unit were called to a business in the plaza at The Parkway and Clonsilla Avenue about a theft in progress.  Upon arrival, the suspects had left the store and during a search of the area, officers located a man and a woman matching the description given to police.  Officers took them into custody and returned the items to the store.  In all, just under $1,500 in product was returned. 

As a result of the investigation:

A 41-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, November 22, 2024.

A 36-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court January 7, 2025.

 

Collision – Sherbrooke Street and Monaghan Road

A 56-year-old cyclist struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Sherbrooke Street and Monaghan Road Thursday morning was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment. 

The collision happened approximately 6:00am on November 21, 2024. 

The 51-year-old driver of the vehicle was ticketed for not turning safely.
