Two Peterborough men are facing weapon and drug charges after a traffic stop on Thursday night.
At approximately 10:30pm, officers on duty noticed a car traveling at a high rate of speed in the Lansdowne street area. Officers located the vehicle a short time later in the area of Townsend Street and Aylmer Street and initiated a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located a weapon, ammunition and various drugs.
As a result, a 39 year old Peterborough man was charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Crack Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl
- Possession of over 30g dried cannabis
The accused is also currently on a Conditional Sentence Order, a lifetime Weapons Prohibition Order, and is bound by a Probation Order. The accused was further charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Probation
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
The accused has been held in custody and will appear in court today, Friday November 7, 2025.
As a further result of the investigation, a 32 year old Peterborough man has also been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance
The accused was released on an undertaking and scheduled to attend court on December 16,2025.
