Road Rage/Hate Bias Arrest

A 50-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after a road rage incident Wednesday evening.

At approximately 6:00pm on September 10, 2025, officers were called to the area of Hunter Street West and Aylmer Street.  Upon arrival, they learned that the victim, who was stopped in their vehicle at George Street and McDonnel Street, was approached by a motorist on a motorcycle.  The motorcyclist yelled and spat at the victim complaining about their driving then followed the victim to a parking lot in the Hunter Street West and Aylmer Street area.  At that time the motorcyclist approached the car again and brandished a knife at the driver while yelling, including racial slurs, before fleeing the area.  Through investigation, the motorcyclist was identified and on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at approximately 8:30pm, officers attended his residence and took him into custody.

As a result, a 50-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault with A Weapon
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, September 12, 2025.

As there is a hate crime element to this case, it will be addressed as the case moves through the court process.
