Festive RIDE

The Peterborough Police Service conducted a FESTIVE Ride check stop Saturday evening in the area of Water Street and Carnegie Avenue in Peterborough.

In total:

  • 630 vehicles were checked
  • 2 warning were issued with a 3-day license suspension
  • 1 driver was ticketed for driving with a suspended license

A reminder to all motorists to plan for a safe ride home if you are celebrating this holiday season.  You can use a designated driver, schedule a taxi or ride share, or stay overnight.

If you see a possible impaired driver, please call 9-1-1.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 58-year-old Toronto woman is facing impaired charges after an incident Friday evening.

At approximately 6:00pm on December 13, 2024, officers were called to a parking lot in the Chemong Road and Wolsely Street area from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver.  Upon arrival, officers learned that the vehicle had been driven erratically while in the parking lot.  Officers located the driver and during a conversation noticed signs of impairment. 

As a result, a 58-year-old Toronto woman was arrested and charge with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court January 21, 2025.

 

Drug Arrest

A 30-year-old Curve Lake woman is facing several charges after a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

At approximately 4:45am on December 14, 2024, officers on general patrol conducted a traffic stop.  During the stop, it was learned that the female passenger was not supposed to be outside of their home between 10:00pm and 6:00am.  She was taken into custody.  During a search of the woman’s belongings after arrest, officers seized:

  • 151g of Crystal Methamphetamine
  • 7.6g of Fentanyl
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Two cell phones
  • Canadian currency

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Curve Lake woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5000
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Failure to comply with probation order

The accused is also bound by a probation order with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on December 14, 2024.

 

Warrant Arrest

A 50-year-old Newmarket man wanted on a warrant is facing another charge after an incident late Sunday night.

At approximately 11:50pm on December 15, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the George Street and Parkhill Road area about a disturbance and a possible weapon. The Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called in to search the building, but did not locate a weapon.  During the incident, officers located a man wanted on a warrant for assault with a weapon, assault with a weapon spousal, break and enter and failing to comply with probation.

As a result, a 50-year-old Newmarket man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with obstruct peace officer for failing to provide his proper name to officers.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, December 16, 2024.
