Theft Arrest
A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple charges of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order after a theft from vehicle call for service.
At approximately 10:30am on December 27, officers were notified of a theft from a vehicle in the area of Maude Street and Lansdowne Street. The caller stated a vehicle was broken into and a magazine with rounds of ammunition were taken, along with loose ammunition. The rifle in which the ammunition belonged to was stored away and was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Through video footage that captured the incident, officers were able to identify the man. The man was located a short distance away and taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order x4
- Theft under $5,000
The accused is currently bound by 4 prohibition orders with conditions including: The accused is prohibited from possessing any firearm, cross-bow, restricted weapon, ammunition and explosive substance for life.
The accused was released on an undertaking and scheduled to attend court in February 2026.
Impaired Arrest
A 25-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Sunday night.
At approximately 10:00pm, 911 received multiple calls of a possible impaired driver in the area of Chemong Road. The vehicle, with an attached trailer, had hit a drive-thru speaker and backed into a building. Officers located the vehicle and noticed signs of impairment when speaking to the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to attend court in February 2026.
