Assault Arrest

A 36-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant is facing several more charges after an incident Sunday morning.

At approximately 6:30am on January 12, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the Towerhill Road and Hilliard Street area about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that there was a dispute between a couple and that the male had thrown objects at the female, spat on her, lit her hair on fire and poured water on her.  Officers learned that the man was in the basement of the residence and began calling out to him.  After about 20 minutes the man came out and was taken into custody.  Officers learned that there was a warrant for the suspects arrest for five charges including assault cause bodily harm and forcible confinement.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon - Spousal
  • Assault – Spousal
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order to not communicate with the female involved. 

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on January 12, 2025.

 

Utter Threats Arrest

A 45-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 6:15pm on January 11, 2025, officers were called to a residential area in the Crystal Drive and Middlefield Road area. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had been banging on a neighbour’s door yelling threats and that the neighbour had also seen a knife during the incident. No one was injured in the incident.

As a result, a 45-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court February 18, 2025.

 

Fail to Comply with Release Order Arrest

A 31-year-old Cobourg man is facing a charge after an incident early Sunday morning in Peterborough.

At approximately 2:30am on January 12, 2025, officers on general patrol spotted a man known to police to be on conditions in the George Street and Charlotte Street area.  When the man saw officers, he began running.  Officers gave chase and caught up to him in the King Street parkade getting into his vehicle.  During their interaction officers noticed a dash cam and knew the man was on order to not use or possess any device capable of storing data in a digital format including, but not limited to computers, cellular telephones, SD cards, USB storage, and digital cameras

As a result, a 31-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

 

Fail to Comply with Undertaking Arrest

A 27-year-old Peterborough woman is facing a charge after an incident early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:20am on January 12, 2025, officers were called to a residence in the Wolfe Street and Rubidge Street area about a woman screaming obscenities and trying to get into the residence.  Upon arrival, officers noticed damage to the front door and a woman on the front porch who attempted to keep officers from entering the residence.  Officers further learned that the woman who had been on the front porch was bound by an order to not be at the residence or to not communicate with the homeowner. 

As a result, a 27-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court February 25, 2025.

 

Assault Peace Officer Arrest

A 62-year-old Peterborough woman is facing a charge after an incident Sunday afternoon. 

At approximately 5:30pm on January 12, 2025, officers were called to a business in the George Street North and Charlotte Street area about a disturbance involving a woman refusing to leave and yelling at staff.  Upon arrival, officers attempted to remove the woman from the business during which time she continued to yell and be uncooperative.  When she was placed in a police cruiser she kicked the officer several times.

As a result, a 62-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault Peace Officer

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court February 25, 2025.
