Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision - Woodglade Boulevard - Update

There has been a verdict in the case of a motor vehicle collision on Woodglade Boulevard in Peterborough on March 23, 2023, that resulted in the death of a 3-year-old girl. 

On Friday, January 24, 2025, the driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old Peterborough woman was found guilty of careless driving causing death under the Highway Traffic Act. 

Sentencing will be held on February 28, 2025.

Original Information

At approximately 9:00am on Thursday, March 23, 2023, officers were called to a motor vehicle collision. A vehicle came off the road and struck a 3-year-old girl in the driveway of the residence.  The child was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since succumbed to those injuries.   No one else was injured in the collision.

The Peterborough Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and after a 5 month investigation, the charge was laid on September 6, 2023.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 65-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Saturday night.

At approximately 11:50pm on January 25, 2025, officers were called to a single vehicle collision at Glenforest Boulevard and White Crescent after reports of a vehicle into a hydro pole and then striking a parked vehicle.  The two people in the vehicle were taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for assessment.  No one else was injured.

As a result of the investigation, a 65-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accuse was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court March 11, 2025.

 

Pedestrian Collision

A 53-year-old Peterborough man struck while crossing the street was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The collision happened Saturday, January 25, 2025 about 9:30pm at George Street and Charlotte Street. 

The 17-year-old driver of the vehicle was charged with failing to yield under the Highway Traffic Act.

 

Driver Sought

On Friday, December 13, 2024, at about 10:45am a pedestrian was struck by a black pickup truck in the Foodland parking lot in Lakefield. 

The driver of the vehicle assisted the pedestrian who indicated they were fine and did not require any help.  Neither party exchanged information, and officers would like to speak with the driver to get more information.
