Warrant Arrest

A 28-year-old Peterborough man wanted on warrants is facing several new charges after an incident early Saturday morning.

At approximately 12:25am on July 29, 2023, officers on general patrol in the George Street and King Street area spotted a man wanted on warrants running away from the area, officers followed him and caught up to him at the end of King Street and Water Street.  Officers advised the man he was under arrest on outstanding warrants for uttering threats, dangerous operation, stunt driving, failing to comply with release order.  The suspect attempted to resist arrest, screaming and striking out at officers as he was taken into custody. 

As a result, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:

  • Assault with intent to resist arrest
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court 

The accused is currently bound by a release order with the following conditions to reside with their surety every night and to remain in their residence between the hours of 10pm and 6am.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court Saturday, July 29, 2023.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 47-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 9:50pm on July 29, 2023, officers were called to a collision at the intersection of Lansdowne Street West and Brealey Drive.  Upon arrival, officers learned that a vehicle turning left had collided with a vehicle going through the intersection.  They also noticed signs of impairment with the driver of the left-turning vehicle.   The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to yield to traffic (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. 

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court August 29, 2023.
