Impaired Arrest

A 50-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Friday evening.

At approximately 7:00pm on July 4, 2025, officers were called about a disturbance and possible impaired driver in the area of Marsh Avenue.  Upon arrival to the area, officers learned that the suspect had left.  A short time later the vehicle was spotted in the Wellington Street and Donegal Street area.  Officers conducted a traffic stop, but the driver exited the vehicle and went into a residence.  When officers spoke with the driver they noticed signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, a 50-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - drugs
  • Obstruct public or peace officer
  • Drive while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Liquor License Control Act)

The accused was issued a 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court August 12, 2025.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 34-year-old Peterborough woman is facing impaired charges after an incident early Saturday morning.

At approximately 1:55am on July 5, 2025, an officer on general patrol in the Stewart Street and Simcoe Street area spotted a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign and conducted a traffic stop.  Upon speaking with the driver, the officer noticed signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Disobey stop sign - fail to stop (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to surrender insurance card (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment. 

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court August 12, 2025.

 

Street Level Robbery Suspects Sought

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service are looking for two suspects after an incident early Saturday morning.

At approximately 4:05am on July 5, 2025, officers were called to the area of Rubidge Street and Sherbrooke Street about a robbery.  Upon arrival, officers learned a man and a woman brandished a knife at two other men and took two necklaces before fleeing the area and were last seen heading eastbound on Dalhousie Street.  The two victims did not wish medical attention.

Suspect #1 was described to police as:

  • Male, White
  • 6 ft
  • 140lbs
  • 30-40 years old 
  • White basketball jersey that said "St. Patrick's" on the front 

Suspect #2 was described to police as:

  • Female, White
  • 30 years old 
  • Heavy set 
  • Green cheetah pants
  • Black sweater

Assault Arrest

A 44-year-old Markham man is facing charges after an incident at Beavermead Park Sunday evening. 

At approximately 9:15pm on July 6, 2025, officers were called to the park about a disturbance. Upon arrival, they learned that a couple in their 20’s had been sitting in the lifeguard tower when some children told them to get down.  The exchange led to a verbal confrontation with two adults with the children and as the couple tried to leave the area were chased and tackled by a male.  The victims did not wish medical attention.

As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old Markham man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault X2

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court August 19, 2025.
