Assault Arrest

A 51-year-old Peterborough man is facing a charge after an intimate partner violence incident.

At approximately 9:50pm on May 30, 2025, officers were called to a residence in the Cunningham Boulevard and Armour Road area.  Upon arrival, officers learned that a verbal dispute had escalated between the suspect and the 52-year-old victim, and the victim was struck several times before escaping to another room and locking the door.

As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault -spousal

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

 

Assault Arrest

A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing a charge after an intimate partner violence incident.

At approximately 1:30am on May 31, 2025, officers were called after a passerby spotted an attempt by a man to force a woman into a vehicle in a parking lot in The Parkway and Lansdowne Street area. The driver left the area for a bit and the woman went with him when he returned.  Through investigation officers learned where the couple was living and attended the residence. 

As a result, a 27-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault – Spousal X2

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 61-year-old Peterborough woman is facing impaired charges after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 6:30pm on May 31, 2025, officers were called to a parking lot in the Kawartha Heights Boulevard and Lansdowne Street West area about a possible impaired driver.  Upon arrival, officers located the suspect vehicle and spoke to the driver; noticing signs of impairment.

As a result, a 61-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court July 8, 2025.

 

Motor Vehicle Collision – Sherbrooke Street and Woodglade Boulevard

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service are investigating after a collision Saturday evening.

At approximately 9:30pm on May 31, 2025, officers were called to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Woodglade Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street. A 14-year-old passenger in one of the vehicles was taken to hospital before being transported to a Toronto hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Several other people were taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with minor injuries.

Officers with the Traffic Unit conducted a reconstruction as part of the ongoing investigation.  The road was closed for approximately three hours.  

 

Weapons Arrest

A 40-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Sunday evening.

At approximately 6:50pm on June 1, 2025, officers were called to the area of Murray Street and Aylmer Street about a man waving around a handgun.  Upon arrival, officers located two men matching the description given to police and conducted a gun point arrest.  Both men were taken into custody and through investigation one was released unconditionally.  Officers seized an imitation handgun and further learned that the suspect had also pointed the weapon at two people passing by.  No one was injured.

As a result, a 40-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

The accused is currently bound by prohibition orders with the following condition: to not have any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, June 2, 2025.

 

Theft Arrest

A 34-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident at a Peterborough business Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 2:00pm on May 31, 2025, officers with Community FIRST Unit were on general patrol when the saw a man fleeing a store in the Rink Street and George Street area with a security officer chasing him.  Officers took the suspect into custody and recovered the stolen property. 

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft under $5000
  • Failure to comply with probation

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court June 1, 2025.

 

Theft Arrest

A 30-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges in connection with a shoplifting incident Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 2:50pm on May 31, 2025, officers were called to the area of The Parkway and Lansdowne Street West about a theft in progress.  Upon arrival, officers were told the suspect had left the store and was headed eastbound.  Officers started searching and located a man matching the description given to police in the Arthur Avenue and Stornoway Place area. The man was taken into custody, and officers recovered a bag of items. 

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
  • Mischief Under $ 5,000
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is currently bound by an undertaking with the following condition: to stay away from the store in which the items were from. 

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court June 1, 2025.
