Impaired Arrest

A 41-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Friday afternoon.

At approximately 2:00pm on March 20, 2026, several 9-1-1 calls were received about a possible impaired driver in the Museum Drive and Hunter Street area. Upon arrival to the area, a vehicle matching the description given to police was spotted at Ashburnham Drive and Old Norwood Road.  While speaking with the driver, officers noticed signs of impairment and further learned the driver was a suspended driver.

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court April 28, 2026.

 

Theft Arrest

A 34-year-old Markham man is facing a shoplifting charge after an incident Saturday.

At approximately 3:30pm on March 21, 2026, officers were called to a business in the Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street area about a theft in progress. Upon arrival, officers spotted a man matching the description given to police walking on Charlotte Street.  When officers attempted to stop him, the man fled, he was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. During a search after arrest, officers located a security alarm jammer.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Markham man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 - Shoplifting

It was further learned that the suspect is wanted in four other jurisdictions in connection with similar crimes.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

 

Warrant Arrest

A 46-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges after a traffic stop Sunday morning.

At approximately 11:30am on March 22, 2026, officers on general patrol in the Chemong Road and Wolsely Street area when they spotted a vehicle and determined the driver was a suspended driver.  Officers conducted a traffic stop and further investigation revealed that the driver was not to be out of their residence without their surety. 

As a result, a 46-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
  • Driving while under suspension X2 (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 23, 2026.

A passenger in the vehicle was also wanted on fraud and theft charges, they were arrested on the strength of the warrant and released at the scene with a court date of June 16, 2026.

 

Utter Threats Arrest

A 30-year-old Peterborough man is facing a charge of uttering threats after a neighbour dispute.

At approximately 5:00pm on March 22, 2026, officers were made aware of a text message threatening harm to a neighbour from the suspect.  Through investigation it was further learned that the man was also wanted on warrants for theft under, disobeying a court order, fail to attend court and fraud under $5000.  The neighbour was not injured.   

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 23, 2026.

 

Intimate Partner Violence Arrest

A 30-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after an incident Sunday night.

At approximately 9:00pm on March 22, 2026, officers were called to a residence in the Highland Road and Chemong Road area after a woman reported her partner had hit with a phone and choked her while driving. While speaking with the victim, officers learned of two other incidents in which the victim was struck and prevented from leaving a room.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault - Spousal X2
  • Assault with a Weapon - Spousal
  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke, suffocate or strangle
  • Forcible Confinement

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 23, 2026.

 

Intimate Partner Violence Arrest

A 34-year-old Cavan-Monaghan man is facing charges after an incident Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 12:40pm on March 22, 2026, officers were called to a residence about an unwanted man. Upon arrival, officers learned that the man had left but that the incident was the result of ongoing issues between the man and his female partner.  It was further learned that there were several past incidents of concern when the man had thrown her to the ground on one occasion and dragged her by the hair in another.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Cavan-Monaghan man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault - Spousal x2 

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 23, 2026.
