Assault Arrest

A 29-year-old Peterborough is facing several charges after an incident Friday afternoon.

At approximately 12:30pm on May 8, 2026, officers were called to the area of Simcoe Street and George Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had brandished a knife at the victim and verbally threatened them before leaving the area.  A man matching the description given to police was located a short distance away and taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Failure to comply with Release Order - other than to attend court
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a release order with the following condition: to not possess any weapon as defined by the Criminal Code.

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

 

Indecent Acts

Two people are facing charges in connection with an incident Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 5:30pm on May 10, 2026, officers were called to the trail near Sherbrooke Street and Water Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that two people had been spotted committing a sexual act on a bench while a family and other pedestrians were in the area. They located two people matching the description given to police in the area and took them into custody.

As a result of the investigation:

A 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Indecent act - public place
  • Being intoxicated in a public place (Liquor License Control Act)

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court August 4, 2026.

A 43-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Indecent act - public place
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order X2

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court August 4, 2026.

 

Warrant Arrest

A 40-year-old Peterborough woman wanted on multiple warrants is in custody.

At approximately 3:00pm on Sunday, May 10, 2026, officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T Unit were on general patrol in the Romaine Street and Aylmer Street area when they spotted the woman on a bicycle. When officers attempted to stop her, she took off on her bike.  They were able to catch up to her and took her into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old was arrested on the strength of the warrants for theft under $5000 X12, failing to comply with release order X4, failing to comply with probation order X10, failing comply with undertaking, and failing to attend court.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 11, 2026.

 

Warrant Arrest

A 22-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant with Canada Border Services was taken into custody on Friday.

At approximately 3:50pm on May 8, 2026, officers located the man in a parking lot in the Towerhill Road and Chemong Road area and took him into custody. He was turned over to Canada Border Services on the strength of the warrant for evading compliance, hindering, presentation of persons and report of goods.
