Aggravated Assault Arrest

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Sunday morning.

At approximately 2:30am on November 24, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the Water Street and London Street area after a verbal dispute escalated. Upon arrival, officers located a 30-year-old male victim suffering from stab wounds.  Officers began life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and he was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre. 

Through investigation it was learned that the incident had happened inside the residence, the Emergency Response Team was called in and a search warrant was executed Sunday evening.

As a result, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, November 25, 2024.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 20-year-old Oro-Medonte man is facing an impaired charge after an incident Friday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30pm on November 22, 2024, officers were called to a collision at George Street and Edinburgh Street. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle with significant front-end damage.  It was reported that the vehicle had been driven erratically just before the collision.  Upon speaking with the driver, officers noticed signs of impairment, however, the driver refused to provide a breath sample.

As a result, a 20-year-old Oro-Medonte man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court December 31, 2024.

 

Collision – Park Street North and Chamberlain Street

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service investigated a collision in which a pedestrian was struck in the area of Park Street North and Chamberlain Street. 

The collision happened around 8:00am this morning (Monday, November 25, 2024).  

As a result, the 78-year-old pedestrian was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment. 

The 56-year-old driver of the vehicle was issued Provincial Offence Notices for obstructed windshield, failing to yield to a pedestrian, and careless driving.
