Assault Arrest/Hate Bias

Three Peterborough teenagers are facing charges and a fourth is wanted by Peterborough Police after an incident Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 12:20pm on April 1, 2026, officers were called to the area of Hilliard Street and Marina Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had confronted one of the teens for dropping a parking sign on her vehicle.  Three more teenagers, including one wearing a mask, came out of a nearby residence and surrounded the victim and started striking her, verbally threatening her and making hate motivated remarks. Officers were able to locate three of the teens and identified a fourth teen who had fled the area. The victim attended Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.

As a result of the investigation:

A 15-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court May 11, 2026.

An 18-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court June 23, 2026.

An 18-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court June 23, 2026.

A 13-year-old Peterborough male is wanted in connection with the incident for assault and disguise with intent.  This is the same individual arrested in connection with several incidents Tuesday, March 24, 2026. 

As there is a hate crime element to this case, it will be addressed as the case moves through the court process.

Assault Arrest

Two Peterborough men are facing charges after an incident in downtown Peterborough Wednesday night.

At approximately 7:30pm on April 1, 2026, officers were dispatched to investigate a reported assault at the bus terminal in which the victim was punched in the face and had their glasses taken and an incident an a nearby convenience store in which the pair was disruptive and asked to leave. 

Upon arrival to the bus terminal, officers spotted security speaking with two men. When the men saw police, they took off, running toward Hunter Street. Officers caught up with one of the men in the Hunter Street and Chambers Street area.  The second man then attended the area. Both were aggressive and disruptive and not listening to police commands.  Once in custody, one of the men continually spat in the police cruiser.

As a result of the investigation:

A 22-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault
  • Theft Under $5000

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court June 23, 2026.

A 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief Under $5000

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court June 23, 2026.

 

Theft Arrest

A 43-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Wednesday evening.

At approximately 7:50pm on April 1, 2026, officers were called to a business in the Sherbrooke Street and George Street area about a theft in progress. Upon arrival, a man matching the description given to police was spotted exiting the building and taken into custody. During the investigation, officers identified the same man wanted in connection with thefts at the same store on Sunday, March 29, 2026, and Monday, March 30, 2026.

As a result, a 43-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000 x3
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x3

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 2, 2026.

 

Break and Enter Arrest

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident early Thursday morning.

At approximately 2:10am on April 2, 2026, an officer on general patrol in the area of George Street and Dalhousie Street was flagged down about a break and enter in progress.  Upon arrival to the business, the officer learned that a front window had been smashed and the suspect was attempting to take a bicycle.  The business owner was able to detain the suspect who was taken into custody by officers.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a place - with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 2, 2026.
