Motor Vehicle Collision – Lansdowne Street West/Webber Avenue

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Management Unit continue to investigate after a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV.

The collision happened at approximately 5:00pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Lansdowne Street West and Webber Avenue. The motorcyclist was flown to a Toronto hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.  

The area was closed for about 3.5 hours while officers conducted a reconstruction. 

The Traffic Unit also issued four tickets to motorists who drove around a police barrier while the collision was being investigated.

Drug Arrest

A 26-year-old Peterborough man wanted on warrants for failing to appear and complying with probation is now facing drug charges.

On Sunday, August 3, 2025, officers with the Community FIRST Unit were on general patrol in the George Street and Townsend Street area when they spotted the man walking.  They stopped and took him into custody. 

During a search after arrest officers seized:

  • 3.5 grams of Fentanyl
  • 27.7grams of Crystal Methamphetamine
  • 25 grams of Cocaine
  • 42 Hydromorphone pills
  • 2 Dilaudid pills
  • 36 unidentified pills
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Canadian currency

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs (Hydro Morphine)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs (Crystal Meth)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs (Dilaudid)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. 

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court August 4, 2025. 

 

Disturbance Arrest

A 36-year-old Thornhill man is facing charges after a disturbance Wednesday morning.

At approximately 8:15am on August 6, 2025, officers were called to the area of Park Street and Romaine Street after several reports of a man yelling, screaming and throwing things at people and passing cars. 

Upon arrival, officers were able to locate the man and take him into custody.  During a search after arrest, officers located a knife in the man’s hand and methamphetamine.

As a result, a 36-year-old Thornhill man was arrested and charged with:

  • Causing a Disturbance
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2

The accused is currently bound by a release order, two probation orders and is currently on a conditional sentence.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court August 6, 2025.
