Possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material Arrest

A 32-year-old Peterborough man is facing a charge as a result of an investigation by the Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, officers conducted a search warrant at a residence in the Armour Road and Hazlitt Street area. 

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, February 5, 2026.

The Peterborough Police is a member of the Provincial Strategy to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

 

Drug Arrest

A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing drug trafficking charges.

On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, officers with the Drug Unit initiated an investigation and a suspect arrested.

During a search after arrest officers seized:

  • 2.2 grams of Fentanyl
  • 23.6 grams of Cocaine
  • 2.8 grams of Methamphetamine
  • 58 Dilaudid pills
  • Canadian currency
  • Cell phones
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Folding knife

As a result, a 37-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Hydromorphone
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

 The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, February 5, 2026.

 

Arson Incidents

Officers with the Investigative Services branch of the Peterborough Police Service are looking into two reported arsons.

The incidents happened minutes apart between 3:30am - 4:00am on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at two vape shops on Lansdowne Street West.  No one was injured in either fire.  In each case the front window of the business was smashed, and a gasoline can was found outside the business.
