Found Money

A larger sum of money has been turned into Peterborough Police and the Service would like to locate the owner.

The money was found in the parking lot of a business in the south end of Peterborough on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 and turned into police. 

“The Service would like to be able to confirm and identify the rightful owner and return the money,” says Inspector John Lyons.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Inspector Lyons at 705-876-1122 x242.

 

Fraud Arrest

A 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on warrants in connection with a number of incidents over the past several years.

At approximately 12:50pm on March 22, 2023, officers on bike patrol spotted the man in the area of Sherbrooke Street and Aylmer Street.  However, when approached the man attempted to flee from police.  He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.  During the arrest officers located a credit card that the rightful owner had reported stolen through the Peterborough Police Service online reporting portal earlier that morning.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants, and further charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court March 23, 2023

 

Utter Threats Arrest

A 49-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a domestic incident Wednesday. 

At approximately 2:30pm on March 22, 2023, officers were called to a residence.  Upon arrival, officers learned that during a verbal altercation the suspect had threatened to harm several others in the house. 

As a result of the investigation a 49-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal

The accused was also wanted on warrant in another jurisdiction.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court March 23, 2023.
