A 38-year-old Oshawa woman is facing charges after providing false documents in an attempt to gain employment as a personal support worker.

On October 30, 2024, officers with the Fraud Unit were made aware of the incident by a Peterborough business and in conjunction with the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) determined that the certification provided during a job interview was fraudulent.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Oshawa woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Utter forged document x2

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court, December 17, 2024.

The Peterborough Police Service Fraud Unit has been able to determine that the accused did not work as a personal support worker in Peterborough.

Assault Arrest

A 53-year-old Peterborough man is facing multiple charges after an incident Wednesday night.

At approximately 7:00pm on November 13, 2024, officers received several calls about a disturbance at a building in the St. Luke’s Avenue and Armour Road area.  Upon arrival, officers found the suspect in a second-floor hallway with a machete and a baseball bat.  One officer drew their firearm and the other their Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW). The suspect was taken into custody without incident.  Through investigation, officers learned that two people had a confrontation and afterward one went to the door of the other with a machete and a baseball bat, damaging the door, and verbally threatening the occupants.  A second door, hallway window, elevator camera and a vehicle were also damaged during the incident.

As a result, a 53-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with A Weapon
  • Mischief - destroys or damages property X5
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm X2

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, November 14, 2024.
