Mischief/Warrant Arrest
A 34-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 4:00pm on November 1, 2023, officers were called about a man damaging a bus shelter on George Street North. Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description given to police. The man was taken into custody without incident. Officers further learned that the man was wanted on three warrants.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:
- Mischief Under $5000
- Theft Under $5000
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, November 2, 2023.
Grandparent Scam
The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after a report of a grandparent scam.
In this case a 77-year-old Peterborough woman was scammed out of $6000 and came to police after the scammers asked for more money.
If you are approached by someone you don’t know making claims about money being required because your grandchild is in jail or needs help with court proceedings, please do not believe them at face value. Take the time to verify the story by calling your family members or speaking to a trusted friend. There is no urgency to respond in the moment.
