Stunt Driving Charge
A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing stunt and speeding charges after a traffic stop Monday.
At approximately 1:20pm on April 20, 2026, a member of the Traffic Services Unit on general patrol in the area of Water Street and Mill Street saw a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Radar was used, recording a speed of 102km/hr in a posted 50km/hr zone.
As a result, a 24-year-old Peterborough man was charged with:
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt
- Speeding 102 km/hr in a posted 50km/hr zone
- Fail to sign permit in ink
The driver was served an automatic 30-day license suspension, and 14-day vehicle impound.
Stunt Driving Charge
A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing a stunt driving and speeding charges after a traffic stop Monday morning.
At approximately 7:20am on April 20, 2026, an officer on general patrol spotted a vehicle travelling at a rate of speed in the Clonsilla Avenue and Whitefield Drive. The officer recorded the vehicle going 96 km/hr in a 50km/hr zone.
As a result, a 24-year-old driver was charged with:
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt
- Speeding 96 km/hr in a posted 50km/hr zone
The driver was served an automatic 30-day license suspension, and 14-day vehicle impound.
Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection
A 45-year-old tractor trailer driver is facing several charges under the Highway Traffic Act after a report of a tractor trailer stuck in the front yard of a residence.
At approximately 12:25pm on Thursday, April 16, 2026, officers were called to the area of North Monaghan Parkway and Whittington Drive.
After the removal of the vehicle from the property, members of the Traffic Services Unit conducted an inspection of the truck and trailer combination. Following the inspection, several defects were found with the braking system.
As a result, a 45-year-old Brampton man was charged under the Highway Traffic Unit with:
- Careless driving
- Disobey sign
- Improper braking system - commercial motor vehicle
- Push rod stroke exceeds prescribed limit - commercial motor vehicle
- Drive commercial motor vehicle with a major defect in it or in drawn vehicle
- Fail to enter defect in daily inspection report
- Operate unsafe vehicle - commercial motor vehicle
Officers removed and seized the plates from the vehicle.
