Theft Arrests

Two Peterborough women are facing multiple charges each in connection with a series of shoplifting incidents at a Peterborough business. 

The incidents were reported online to the Peterborough Police Service and happened between November and early December at the business.  In most cases, the pair would scan some items for payment and not others.  In total almost $4,100 in goods were not paid for. 

As a result of an investigation by the Community FIRST Unit:

A 70-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000 X13

The accused attended the Peterborough Police Station on Sunday, February 16, 2025, and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court later that day.

A 27-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000 X9 
  • Breach of recognizance X9

The accused is currently bound by a recognizance with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was taken into custody at their residence on Saturday, February 15, 2025, held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

 

Drug Arrest

A 41-year-old Marmora man is facing charges after a traffic stop early Monday morning.

At approximately 2:45am on February 17, 2025, officers on general patrol conducted a traffic stop in the Lansdowne Street and Aylmer Street area.  Upon speaking with the driver, officers noticed several Highway Traffic Act infractions and during a further search of the vehicle officers located and seized:

  • 13. 6 grams of Fentanyl
  • 126 Pills
  • 50 grams of suspected cocaine
  • Drug paraphernalia

As a result, a 41-year-old Marmora man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
  • Insecure load (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Possess more than one licence (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Obstruct plate (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court April 1, 2025.

 

Assault/Warrant Arrest

A 26-year-old Peterborough woman wanted on warrants is facing new charges after an incident Saturday night. 

At approximately 11:05pm on February 15, 2025, officers on general patrol spotted the woman who was known to be wanted on five warrants in the George Street and Townsend Street area.  She was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants.  While in police custody at the police station, she threw toilet water on an officer. 

As a result, the 26-year-old Peterborough woman was further charged with:

  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court

The accused is currently bound by a release order with the following condition to: remain in their resident between 10:00pm and 6:00am. 

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
