Stunt Driving Charge

A 19-year-old driver is facing a stunt driving charge after a traffic stop in Peterborough Monday afternoon.

At approximately 1:00pm on March 24, 2025, an officer from the Traffic Unit was on general patrol in the area of Water Street and Carnegie Avenue.  A vehicle was spotted travelling at a high rate of speed and was recorded going 98 in a 50km/h zone. 

As a result, the driver was charge with:

  • Stunt in excess of 40km/hr
  • Speeding 98km/hr in a 50km/hr

The driver was issued a 30-day license suspension and the vehicle impounded for 14 days. 

 

Warrant Arrest

A 42-year-old Peterborough man wanted on multiple warrants was taken into custody Monday afternoon.

At approximately 1:00pm on March 24, 2025, an officer on general patrol spotted the man in the area of George Street North and Brock Street.  When the officer approached the man and advised him of the warrants and that he was under arrest, the man started running away.  The officer caught up to him and took him into custody.

As a result, a 42-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants which were for failing to comply with probation and failing to comply with an appearance notice for fingerprinting.

He is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 25, 2025.
