Voyeurism Arrest

A 20-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Friday afternoon.

At approximately 1:00pm on May 16, 2025, officers were called to an outer store at Lansdowne Place Mall. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had noticed a phone come over the top of the changeroom.  Security was called and the man held until police arrived and took him into custody.  During a search after arrest, officers seized a cellphone.

As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Voyeurism

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 24, 2025.

 

Impaired Arrest

A 41-year-old Keene man is facing charges after an incident in Peterborough Friday afternoon.

At approximately 3:45pm on May 16, 2025, officers were called about a possible impaired driver after a male driver was spotted passed out at a stop light in the Weller Street and Sherwood Crescent area.  Upon arrival to the area, officers located the vehicle and while speaking to the driver noticed signs of impairment.  During a search of the vehicle after arrest, officers located open alcohol. 

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Keene man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Having care of control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court June 24, 2025.

 

Sexual Assault Arrest

A 55-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Friday afternoon.

At approximately 3:50pm on May 16, 2025, officers were called to the area of Sherbrooke Street and George Street. Upon arrival, they learned that a woman had been grabbed from behind by an unknown male.  While searching for a man matching the description given to police, another similar call for service was received involving a child.  Officers arrived at the second scene and were told that the man was last seen heading toward Del Crary Park.   A man matching the description given to police was spotted and after a brief foot pursuit was taken into custody. 

As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Assault - Child

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, May 17, 2025. 

 

Theft/Warrant Arrest

A 37-year-old Peterborough woman wanted on a warrant is facing more charges after an incident Friday afternoon. 

At approximately 4:15pm on May 16, 2025, officers with the Community FIRST Unit were called about two theft incidents that day in which over $700.00 in product was taken from the business in the Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street.  Upon arrival officers started searching the area and located a woman matching the description given to police nearby.  She was taken into custody.  Some of the stolen property was located.  It was determined that the woman was wanted on a warrant for theft under $5000 and fail to comply with probation.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged in connection with three other incidents :

  • Theft Under $5000 X2
  • Break and Enter
  • Fail to Comply with Probation X5

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, May 17, 2025. 

 

Robbery Arrest

Two Peterborough people are facing robbery charges after two incidents over the weekend.

At approximately 9:50pm on Sunday, May 18, 2025, officers were called after two people entered a business in the Clonsilla Avenue and Goodfellow Road area and started to take items off the shelves.  One person attempted to pay but payment was declined.  The second person left and then returned holding a piece of wood like a weapon.  Both suspects then fled with the items without paying.

At approximately On Monday, May 19, 2025, officers were called to a business in the Lansdowne Street West and The Parkway area. Upon arrival, officers learned that two people had entered the store with a metal rod and took some fireworks from without paying and fled the store with the items in a wagon.

Officers started searching the area and located two people matching the description given to police near The Parkway and The Queensway.  Both were taken into custody.

It was further learned that both were wanted on warrants.

As a result of the investigation:

A 32-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:

  • Robbery with Weapon X2
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order X8
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court X2

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 20, 2025.

A 38-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:

  • Robbery with Weapon X2
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order X4

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 20, 2025.
