Assault with a Weapon Arrest
A 21-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Monday afternoon.
At approximately 3:00pm on May 25, 2026, officers were made aware of an unwanted person on a property in the Hunter Street and Bethune Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned that the person was not to have any contact with the residents and that when they tried to chase him off, the suspect threw a rock at them before fleeing the area. A short time later, officers located a man matching the description given to police in the George Street and Simcoe Street area and took him into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with A Weapon
- Failure to comply with undertaking
The accused is currently bound by an undertaking to stay away from the residence as well as the people who live there.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 26, 2026.
Warrant Arrest
Two people wanted on warrants related to firearm charges were located and taken into custody Monday.
At approximately 10:00pm on May 25, 2026, officers on general patrol spotted the man and woman in the area of Wolfe Street and Rubidge Street and took them into custody. During a search after arrest officers located a round of ammunition in the woman’s belongings.
As a result of the investigation:
A 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrant.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 26, 2026.
A 31-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
The accused is currently bound by a 10-year Criminal Code weapons prohibition which includes not being able to possess ammunition.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 26, 2026.
