School Bus Safety

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit are reminding motorists about the rules around stopping for school buses.

Recently, officers received multiple complaints about people not stopping when the school bus arm is out in the area of Lansdowne Street and Ashburnham Drive and Parkhill Road West and Hedonics Road.   In both of these areas, the road is four lanes.  Vehicles in all four lanes are to stop when the school bus is stopped with the lights and arm activated.  Failure to do so could result in a fine of $490 and six demerit points.
