Weapons Arrest

A 14-year-old Peterborough male is facing a number of charges after incidents Saturday night.

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, officers were notified about incidents the previous day in which the window of a vehicle was shot out and a man robbed at gunpoint in the Sherbrooke Street and George Street area.  Through investigation, officers located the suspect at a residence in the Ashburnham Drive and Maria Street area and took him into custody at gunpoint.  Upon a search after arrest, a pellet gun was located along with a knife in a backpack.

As a result, a 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery using Firearm (Restricted or Prohibited)
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court X3

The accused is currently on a release order with the following conditions: to reside with their surety each and every night, to not possess any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code and to not possess any knives.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court Monday, November 11, 2024.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Code, the name of a young person cannot be released.

 

Drug Arrest

A 21-year-old Ajax man is facing several drug charges after an incident Friday afternoon.

On Friday, November 8, 2024, officers were called to the area of Reid Street and Simcoe Street about suspicious activity.  Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description given to police.  During the interaction, the man failed to produce valid identification and was taken into custody for obstructing police. The man resisted arrest and would not let go of a backpack. During a search of the backpack after arrest, officers located and seized:

  • 18.9 grams Methamphetamine
  • 11.7 grams Cocaine
  • 13.6 grams Fentanyl
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Canadian currency

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Ajax man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on November 9, 2024. 

 

Assault Arrest

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a neighbour dispute.

At approximately 11:40pm on Friday, November 8, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the Hilliard Street and St.Pauls Street area.  Upon arrival, officers learned that a verbal dispute between neighbours escalated when one neighbour verbally threatened and then came at the other with a piece of wood. 

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Assault with A Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. 

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on November 9, 2024.

 

Assault Arrest

A 38-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Saturday morning.

At approximately 9:10am on November 9, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the Aylmer Street and McDonnel Street area.  Upon arrival, officers learned that when contractors were in the building a male threw an ashtray, came at them with a frying pan, and verbally threatened them.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with weapon
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Failure to comply with probation

The accused is currently bound a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court December 24, 2024.
