Assault Arrest

A 40-year-old Peterborough resident is facing charges after an intimate partner violence incident Monday evening.

At approximately 9:15pm on September 30, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the Denure Drive and Kawartha Heights Boulevard area.  Upon arrival, officers called out at the house and a man exited the home and was taken into custody.  Through investigation, officers learned that a woman in the home had reported her husband had a knife and was threatening to hurt her and that he had also lifted her up by the neck.  Officers seized a knife from the residence.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Peterborough resident was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke, suffocate or strangle
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, October 1, 2024.
