Robbery Arrest

A 38-year-old Quebec man is facing charges after an incident Monday morning.

At approximately 9:45am on October 21, 2024, officers were called to a business in the Brock Street and George Street area about a robbery in progress.  Upon arrival, they learned that a man with a knife had waved it around towards the staff before leaving the store with food.  Officers spotted a man matching the description provided to police.  The officer drew their firearm, and the man stopped, however, did not respond to further officer commands.  The officer then switched to their Conducted Energy Weapon until other officers arrived and the man was taken into custody. During arrest a knife fell out of the suspect’s sweater and was seized by officers.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Quebec man was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with Theft
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on October 21, 2024. 

 

Pedestrian/Motor Vehicle Collision – Lakefield

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating after two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in Lakefield Monday evening.

At approximately 5:00pm on October 21, 2024, officers were called to the intersection of Queen Street and Concession Street in Lakefield.  Two people, an 81-year-old woman and an 86-year-old man, were taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre.  The woman was flown to a Toronto hospital for further treatment of her injuries. 

The Traffic Unit was called in to complete a reconstruction investigation.  The road was closed for about four hours.
