Drugs/Weapons/Warrant Arrest
A 32-year-old Peterborough man is facing a number of charges after an incident Monday evening.
At approximately 11:50pm on October 30, 2023, officers were called to the area of Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street about a man with a gun in his hand. Upon arrival, officers saw a man matching the description given to police fleeing the courtyard area on a bicycle. Officers at the other end of the courtyard were able to stop the bike and take the man into custody. A replica BB gun was located in the courtyard.
During a search of the suspect after arrest, officers seized:
- 44 grams of cocaine
- 17.8 grams of fentanyl
- 1.5 grams of heroin
- Pills
- Drug paraphernalia
- BB gun paraphernalia
They further learned there was a warrant out for the arrest of the suspect.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, October 31, 2023.
Theft of Copper - Suspects Sought
The Peterborough Police Service is seeking suspects after a significant amount of copper was taken from a business.
On Monday, October 30, 2023, officers were called to a business in the Township of Cavan-Monaghan. Upon arrival, officers learned that the business owner had arrived for work and noticed that several spools of copper that had been delivered just before the weekend were gone. It’s believed the break in happened sometime between 6:00pm on Friday, October 27, 2023 and 7:00am on Monday, October 30, 2023. The estimated value of the copper is approximately $20,000.
