Fraud Arrest
A 22-year-old North York, ON man is fraud-related facing charges after two incidents in the past month.
At approximately 3:00pm on April 21, 2026, officers were called to a bank in Peterborough about a man attempting to open an account with what appeared to be fraudulent documents. Upon arrival, officers learned that the same person had been in a different branch on April 14, 2026, attempting to do the same thing. Through investigation it was determined that the suspect had lied about his identity.
As a result, a 22-year-old North York, ON man was arrested and charged with:
- Use, deals, acts on forged document X2
- Obstruct Peace Officer
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 22, 2026.
Theft Arrest
A 26-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Tuesday evening.
At approximately 5:45pm on April 21, 2026, officers were called to a business in the Borden Avenue and High Street area about a theft in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had fled on a bicycle. Officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T. Unit located a man matching the description given to police a short distance away and after a brief foot pursuit they were able to take him into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 22, 2026.
Theft Arrest
A 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Tuesday evening.
At approximately 8:00pm on April 21, 2026, officers with Community F.I.R.S.T. were called to a business in the Lansdowne Street and High Street area about a theft in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had fled that area on a bike with items that were not paid for. Officers searched the area and located a man on a bicycle matching the description given to police. The man made several attempts to avoid officers by cycling through several parking lots and a cemetery and along the train tracks. The man was taken into custody while trying to cycle past officers. The stolen items were recovered.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Under $5000
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
- Failure to comply with undertaking
The accused is currently bound by a release order and an undertaking with the following condition: to not attend the place of business at the which the incident occurred.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 22, 2026.
