Weapons Arrest
A 52-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Tuesday evening.
At approximately 9:13pm on December 19, 2023, officers were called to the area of Wolfe Street and Aylmer Street about a man with a knife. Upon arrival, officers spotted the man described to police in the middle of the road flailing his arms. Officers called out to a man who started moving toward them. One officer drew their firearm, and another officer drew their conducted energy weapon as the male did not comply with officer demands. During the exchange, the man dropped the knife he had been holding. The officers were able to take him into custody and the knife was seized.
As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, December 20, 2023.
Impaired Arrest
A 39-year-old Peterborough man is facing an impaired charge after an incident early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 2:30am on December 20, 2023, an officer on general patrol in the area of McGill Street and Roger Neilson Way noticed a vehicle driving without rear lights hit the curb. The officer conducted a traffic stop and noticed signs of impairment with the driver.
As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court January 9, 2024.
