Drug Arrest
A 39-year-old Peterborough man is facing eight charges after an incident Tuesday morning.
At approximately 10:00 am on February 10, 2026, officers on general patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of Aylmer Street and Townsend Street after the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) showed the vehicle was registered to someone who was deceased. While speaking to the driver they learned that the vehicle had been recently purchased. The officer also spotted open alcohol in the car and further learned that the driver was a suspended driver. He was taken into custody and during a search of the vehicle officers seized:
- Two cans of opened alcohol
- 12 separate bags for a total of 9 grams of Cocaine
- Open cannabis container
- Cell phone
- $1000 in Canadian Currency
- Drivers license
- License Plates
As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act)
- Use plate not in accordance with Act (Highway Traffic Act)
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner (Highway Traffic Act)
- Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Liquor License Control Act)
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, February 11, 2026.
