Warrant Arrest
A 36-year-old Peterborough man wanted on warrants in Peterborough and three other jurisdictions is facing new charges.
At approximately 2:50pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, officers on general patrol in the area of Dalhousie Street and Park Street spotted the man who took off running when he saw the officers. They were able follow in their vehicle for a distance before giving chase on foot. They caught up to him in the Stewart Street and Sherbrooke Street area and took him into custody. During a search after arrest, officers located and seized three bank cards in a different name.
The suspect was wanted on four counts of theft under $5000, five counts of fail to comply with probation, two counts of possession of a schedule I substance and failing to attend for fingerprints.
As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 11, 2026.
Break and Enter Arrest
Two Bowmanville men are facing charges after an incident at a Peterborough business.
At approximately 1:00am on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, officers were called to a business in the Lansdowne Street and Ashburnham Drive area a break and enter in progress. Upon arrival, officers searched the building and located two men inside along with some bags of tools. Both men were taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation:
A 46-year-old Bowmanville man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession Break In Instruments
- Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence
A 42-year-old Bowmanville man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession Break In Instruments
- Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence
Both accused are being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 11, 2026.
Commercial Vehicle Inspection Detail
Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Traffic Unit conducted a commercial vehicle inspection detail on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
In all the officers conducted 8 full inspections.
As a result:
- 1 vehicle was taken out of service
- 4 Court Summons were issued
- 4 Provincial Offence Notices were issued
- 1 caution issued
Tickets were for improper tires, failure to enter defect into daily report, failure to move into another lane for emergency vehicle or tow truck and operate unsafe vehicle.
