Theft Arrest

A 32-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident at a local business Tuesday evening.

At approximately 5:00pm on March 28, 2023, officers were called after a store clerk in the Charlotte Street and George Street North area reported a person had left the store without paying for their merchandise.  Officers located a man matching the description given to police several blocks away and took him into custody without incident. The items were returned to the store. 

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft under $5000

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court April 18, 2023.

 

Assault Arrest

A 34-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges in connection with a domestic incident early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 1:00am on March 29, 2023, officers were called to a residence by a concerned citizen.  Upon arrival, officers located a female and then found a male in another part of the residence.  It was determined that a verbal argument had escalated to a physical altercation where the female was pushed, pinned down, and choked.    Both parties received medical attention at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm - Choke
  • Assault - Spousal

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, March 29, 2023.
