Peterborough Police Service Enhances Online Reporting Portal for a Safer Community
Today, Monday, June 30, 2025, the Peterborough Police Service is rolling out a significant upgrade to its online reporting portal. The new system and partnership with Canadian-owned Rubicon, will enhance how non-emergency crimes such as property theft, vandalism, and dangerous driving are reported in Peterborough, making it easier, faster, and more efficient for residents to contribute to community safety.
Upgrading Online Incident Reporting: A Modernized Approach
This enhanced system builds on the Peterborough Police Service’s existing digital reporting platform, offering a more user-friendly experience, expanded functionality, and improved data integration. These upgrades ensure that reports are processed more efficiently, allowing frontline officers to focus on urgent calls while ensuring non-emergency concerns are properly addressed.
Why These Upgrades Matter:
“We believe that projects like this showcase what innovation brings to the table to help make it as easy as possible for the public to make a report through the online reporting portal while increasing the functionality and responsiveness of the Service—all while creating a safer community.” – Chief Stuart Betts, Peterborough Police Service.
More than a reporting tool, online reporting is important for improving the police service's understanding of local safety concerns. By identifying trends in minor incidents, PPS can take proactive measures to prevent more serious crimes. The system alleviates pressure on emergency communication lines and gives residents an easier way to engage with their police service.
The Upgraded Online Reporting Portal offers:
- Community Engagement: Enables residents to report non-emergency situations anytime, from anywhere, ensuring each concern is documented and reviewed.
- More Efficient Resource Allocation: Frees up police resources for urgent needs, enhancing the overall responsiveness of PPS.
- 24/7 Accessibility: Offers a user-friendly interface for the public, available round the clock.
- A direct portal for the public to include uploaded of images and video.
