Robbery Arrest - Update

A third teenager has been charged in connection with a robbery last Thursday evening.

On Saturday, March 11, 2023, the teen and their parent came to the Peterborough Police Station.

As a result of the investigation, the 14-year-old was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court April 24, 2023.

Robbery Arrest

A 34-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Saturday evening. 

At approximately 6:40pm on March 11, 2023, officers were called to the area of Wolfe Street and Aylmer Street about a street-level robbery.  Upon arrival officers learned that the male victim had been chased by another man and robbed of a number of items.  The male victim was treated for injuries at the scene.

Officers searched the area and located a man matching the description given to police.  The suspect started to flee on foot and officers gave chase.  The suspect jumped into Jackson Creek and continued running through a tunnel under the King Street parking garage.  Officers followed and deployed Police Service Dog Gryphon to help with the arrest.  The suspect surrendered to officers as the dog approached him.  However, he became aggressive during the arrest.  

As a result of the investigation a 34-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with Theft
  • Resist Peace Officer

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

 

Assault Arrest

A 60-year-old Peterborough man is facing a charge after an incident Friday afternoon.

At approximately 1:45pm on Friday, March 10, 2023, officers were called to a residence in the McDonnel Street and Stewart Street area.  Upon arrival, officers located a male victim being treated for a head injury by EMS.  Officers further learned that there had been an altercation and the victim had been struck with a hammer.   The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre to be treated for injuries.  Several apartments had to be evacuated for a short period of time after ammonia was used to clean up the scene.  

Officers secured a search warrant, located, and seized a hammer from the residence.

As a result of the investigation, a 60-year-old Peterborough man involved in the altercation was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court April 4, 2023. 

 

Theft Suspects Sought

Peterborough Police Service is investigating after an incident early Sunday morning.

At approximately 3:00am on March 12, 2023, officers were called to a business in the Towerhill Road and Chemong Road area after reports of three men wearing masks entering the store and taking off with a number of items. 

Upon arrival officers searched the area, including a K9 track, with negative results.  The suspects were last seen heading east on foot on Towerhill Road.

Breach of Probation Arrest

During the search for the suspects in theft incident at around 3:00am on Sunday, March 12, 2023, officers came across a male walking in the area of Millroy Drive and Towerhill Road.  Officers learned the male was wanted on a warrant in another jurisdiction and took the male into custody.  During a search of the man officers located brass knuckles and about $7700 in Canadian currency. 

As a result, a 29-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Failure to comply with prohibition order
  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court X3

The accused is currently bound a weapons prohibition and a release order with the following conditions to remain in his residence between 10:00pm and 6:00am, to not possess any weapons and to notify police of any change of address.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court Sunday, March 12, 2023.
