Impaired Arrest – Update
A 25-year-old Peterborough man charged with impaired driving in December 2025 is now facing more charges in connection with incident.
Through further investigation, it was determined that before the man was apprehended they had struck a drive-thru sign at a business at Brookdale Plaza several times before knocking it down and fleeing the area.
As a result on Sunday, January 11, 2026, officers further charged the 25-year-old Peterborough man with:
- Mischief over $5,000
- Fail to Remain
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court February 10, 2026.

Impaired Arrest
A 50-year-old Peterborough man is facing an impaired charge after an incident Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 1:45pm on January 14, 2026, the Peterborough Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen that a man had driven away from a business and was possibly impaired. Officers on general patrol in the area of Reid Street and McDonnel Street spotted a vehicle matching the description given to police and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking to the driver, officers noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 50-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court February 17, 2026.
