Fire - Update

The fire that claimed the life of a 27-year-old Peterborough man early Wednesday morning has been determined - not suspicious.  Peterborough Police Service has turned the scene over to the Ontario Fire Marshal.

Sexual Assault and B&E Arrest

Two 29-year-old men from the Township of Cavan-Monaghan are facing multiple charges after a police investigation into an incident at the end of November 2025.

On November 28, 2025, Peterborough Police were made aware of the incident which involved a 14-year-old girl and a break and enter at the Old Millbrook School in which several thousand dollars worth of tools were stolen.

As a result of the investigation, on December 29, 2025, a 29-year-old Millbrook man was arrested and charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Interference
  • Break, Enter and Commit

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court December 29, 2025.

As part of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at a Millbrook residence on January 6, 2026, during which officers also located and seized the tools reported in the break and enter.  

As a result, a second 29-year-old Millbrook man was arrested and charged with:

  • Sexual Assault – Child
  • Sexual Interference – Child
  • Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court January 7, 2026.

 

Warrant Arrest

A 43-year-old Peterborough woman wanted on warrants for failing to attend court and theft of a motor vehicle was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 2:25pm on January 7, 2026, officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T Unit spotted the woman walking in the area of Simcoe Street and Bethune Street and took her into custody.

The woman is being held and will appear in court today, January 8, 2026.

 

Fail to Comply with Undertaking Arrest

A 38-year-old Mississauga man is facing charges after an incident Wednesday morning.

At approximately 10:40am on January 7, 2026, officers were notified of an unwanted person at a residence in the Stenson Boulevard and Brealey Drive area.  Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had hopped a fence and was now running through a nearby park.  Officers caught up to the man and took him into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Mississauga man was arrested and charged with:

  • Failing to comply with undertaking X3

The accused is currently bound by an undertaking to not be at the residence above and to not communicate with the people who live in the residence.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, January 8, 2026.
