COVID-19 Update for April 24 Protest

On Saturday, April 24, 2021, three tickets were laid under the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA) in relation to the protest at Confederation Square.   Five other tickets were laid in relation to the protest under other provincial offence acts. 

Peterborough Police Service will continue to investigate the information from the protest and further charges may be laid under the ROA.

Child Luring Arrest

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing child luring charges following a lengthy online investigation.

On April 22, 2021, as a result of an investigation, Justin Lavecque, 28, of Peterborough was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Luring a child under 16 years old x 3
  • Making sexually explicit material available to a child under 16 years old

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today, April 22, 2021.

Motor Vehicle Collision – Sir Sanford Fleming Drive and Airport Road

Peterborough Police Service was called out to a motor vehicle collision in the west end of the City of Peterborough this morning.

At approximately 9:00 am on April 21, 2021, officers were called to the intersection of Sir Sanford Fleming Drive and Airport Road after a collision between a Peterborough City Transit bus and a van.
