Over the past week, the Peterborough Police Service has been made aware of at least two bank scams.

In one case the victim received what they believed to be a call from their banking institution claiming the victim’s bank cards were compromised and that they would need to be sent to the bank. A 35-year-old Peterborough man wanted on warrants for theft is facing new charges after an incident Thursday.

At approximately 2:15pm on March 12, 2026, officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T Unit were notified about a theft in progress at a business in the High Street and Borden Avenue area. A 36-year-old Peterborough man wanted on warrants in Peterborough and three other jurisdictions is facing new charges.
