A 40-year-old man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle on George Street North Thursday evening.
At approximately, 8:30 pm on January 14, 2021, police were notified that a vehicle had struck a male on George Street North between Dalhousie Street and Townsend Street.
The man was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre then transported to a hospital in Toronto where he succumbed to his injuries.

In early December, vague information was brought to the attention of the Peterborough Police Service involving an unknown police officer from an unknown police service. As per the regulations, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was promptly and correctly notified of the incident. The SIU conducted their investigation and it has since been closed. At this time, there is nothing further to add to this investigation.

UPDATE: The area is now open and the coroner's investigation is continuing. There is no threat to public safety.
Peterborough Police are assisting an investigation after the body of a man was found beside the train tracks running between The Parkway and Lansdowne Street West.
At approximately 10:45am January 14, 2021, officers were called to the area about a man with vital signs absent. It is now a Coroner’s investigation and police are assisting.
